About The Book
When Paula Gadd’s husband of almost thirty years dies, just days away from the seventh anniversary
of their son Christopher’s death, her world falls apart. Grieving and bereft, she is stunned when a
young woman approaches her at the funeral service, and slips something into her pocket. A note suggesting that Paula’s husband was not all that he seemed...
When the two women eventually meet, a series of revelations challenges everything Paula thought she knew, and it becomes immediately clear that both women’s lives are in very real danger. Both a dark, twisty slice of domestic noir and taut, explosive psychological thriller, After He Died is also a chilling reminder that the people we trust the most can harbour the deadliest secrets...
A mystery within a mystery, a web full of lies and secrets... this is what you'll find in the new book of Michael J. Malone, a twisted and touchable book that will keep you awake till the last page.
Paula Gadd is living her worst nightmare, burying her husband Christopher, just a few years after their son passed away, she thought they had so much time together and now he is gone... But when a young woman says to her that is time for her to know the truth about her husband, she will enter in a spiral of death, secrets and money that will put her life in danger.
This is a slow paced story, Paula is grieving and is not sure if she wants to know the truth about her husband, she loved her and doesn't believe he could have made something to endanger her or their family. While we are introduced to the story we discover Christopher's brothers... totally opposed one to each other; a priest and a salesman, both of them have secrets but do they know the truth about Christopher? Since the beginning you feel that both of them are lying, of course they both have their reasons, but are they dangerous? You'll have to read the book to discover the truth! ;)
Cara is the other main character of the story, she is mysterious and wants to know the truth about her brother's death, but at the same time she is a good person, always trying to help the people that need it the most. Paula and Cara will have to work together to stay alive and discover what really happened to their loved ones, even if the truth would not be the one they are expecting.
This story is engaging and bittersweet, twisted but real, Paula is a loving character that makes you re-think about your life, friends and family, and what would you do to keep your family safe.
